Management member and Policy analyst of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Yaw Amoh Sarpong beaten mercilessly by alleged angry fans of Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park prior to kickoff of the Normalization Committee Special competition match day 8 between Chelsea and Kotoko.
The energetic KNUST lecturer was attacked after a reported row broke between the management of Asante Kotoko and the home fans before kick off as some Kotoko officials were reportedly being prevented from entering the inner perimeter of the park.
Outnumbered and unable to withstand the attacks from the unruly crowed after one other Kotoko official had allegedly been slapped in the process, helpless Amoh Sarpong is alleged to have rushed to his car, pulled out a loaded pistol and fired four (4) consecutive warning shots at the crowed in self defence, but his act only engendered more danger making the situation worse.
Sarpong was out muscled and beaten with sticks and stoned before police intervened to take him away while bleeding profusely from the head.
The clashes left others injured including a man who is said to be policeman who had pulled on a Kotoko replica jersey to watch the about to start match.
Amoh Sarpong is currently receiving treatment and his condition would be monitored.
