Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have officially confirmed that they have been declared winners of the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg fixture over Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou with a statutory 2-0 win.

The Porcupines were scheduled to play against the Mauritanian side in the second leg of their Champions League preliminary round second leg at the Accra sports stadium on Sunday. However, the game was eventually called off by the match commissioner after the visiting team failed to provide the requisite number of 15 players for game after 2 of their 16 players who traveled to Ghana for the game reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.

Asante Kotoko have officially confirmed the decision by the match commissioner, giving them an eventual 3-1 aggregate qualification following their 1-1 draw with Nouadhibou in Mauritania in the first leg.

“Asante Kotoko has been declared 2:0 winners against FC Nouadhibou in the 2nd leg of the #CAFCL We therefore qualify to the next round with a 3:1 aggregate in our favor”, Asante Kokotoko announced on Twitter.

The two times continental champions will now face Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman in the next round of the competition.
