Obuasi-based Ashanti Gold midfielder, Mathew Agama has claimed their target is to win this season’s GPL or be at the right position of the table at the end of the season.
Ashanti Gold finished ninth on the table with 45 points last season and reached the finals of the MTN FA Cup but lost to Hearts of Oak on a penalty shootout.
The Miners will welcome the reigning champions of the league Hearts of Oak at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi and regards to the game, Agama has vowed to belabor the Phoobians and revive their hope of having a good season.
“All we need is the support like how they’ve been doing especially against Eleven Wonders. They should show us that massive support this weekend even though we lost to King Faisal this weekend but that doesn’t means the game is over, now we’ve started so we need their support and their prayers too on Sunday.
“I joined the club last season because the team is very great team, all the players are always professionals so I believe in my players and the management that we are going to take something this season despite failing to achieve something good last season but we are all ready this season and I know we can do better.
“We the team have very huge target that either we take the trophy or be at a right position because AshantiGold is also a big team in Ghana so we deserve to be first, second or third this season.”
