Former Berekum Chelsea assistant coach Randolf Armah has outlined reasons that informed his decision to leave his job at the Berekum based premier league side, citing the number of years he has served among others.
Armah officially parted ways with The Blues on Thursday while the club is still preparing for the commencement of the 2020/2021 football season, and he believes it is time to look elsewhere.
Explaining to ghanasportspage.com, Mr Armah stated that he has served the club for too long now and he believes it’s not that healthy to, as a coach, stay with one club for that long a time. Moreover, he says he wants to take time out of coaching and rethink of a new challenge before returning to the dugout in appropriate time. While people speculate that the club didn’t need his service any longer and made him to leave, the Dutch trained coach states otherwise.
“I have been with the club for six years and I believe it’s enough”, Randold Armah told ghanasportspage.com. “I’ve served at various capacities; from fitness trainer to team manager, assistant coach, head coach, Youth coach, you name them. If a position within the team becomes vacant, I move to fill that position so the team can run, I’ve served at various capacities”, he outlined.
The outbreak of covid-19 has sent football activities into bed, leaving most coaches and players with no show, but Armah insists his decision to leave the club has nothing to do with the absence of football.
“It has nothing to do with absence of football. What prompted me to leave was simply having served for too long. I’ve been there for very long time and you know six seasons is not a mere, you know, in football when you are with a club for that long then you know you have to move on. In a way you have to always try something else somewhere else and see what happens. Like I did say, I’ve served at various capacities in the club, so it’s not a matter of the club not wanting to, you know, even at one time I was doing it all. So that’s it, it’s not a matter of me not being happy with the club or something and it has nothing to do with football not going on”, he explained.
Meanwhile, coach Randolph Armah maintained he will never exit the football industry since that is his passion and his life.
“Every person in football is passionate about the game, if you don’t have the passion for it you will not be in it, so leaving the industry, no, I don’t think that will ever happen because football is my life. So for the industry I will still be in the industry, but like I said I just want to move on, that’s all”, he added.
As the FA is putting things in place for the start of the new football season, it is believed coach Armah will soon find a new club and return to the dugouts, but he doesn’t see himself coming back anytime this season.
“For now not. I have to deal with something and am not available for clubs. The covid-19 has changed the dynamics of human life so I have to do a lot of rethinking before I come back. If I come back you will all get to know when I’m back. So for now I’m doing some sort of rethinking with regards to dynamics of our life. I’ve got to deal with something else”, he concluded.
Coach Randolph Armah holds KMBV International coaching Certificate, equivalent to UEFA Licence B in football coaching. He had his coaching training in the Netherlands where he went through the basics of coaching through to the high level.
