Former Asante Kotoko Chairman, Herbert Mensah dreams of taking over the Chief Executive Officer position of AshantiGold SC in relation to the ongoing frictions between the club’s President Dr Kwaku Frimpong and the supporters.
The Miners’ boss Dr Kwaku Frimpong was given the ownership right of the club in 2018 by Anglogold Ashanti. The medical practitioner has single-handedly financed the club to date.
Before the start of the just ended 2020/2021 Premier League season, the supporters had some misunderstanding with Dr Kwaku Frimpong for failure to render an apology after using some unfortunate words on them.
As a result, he didn’t get the full support of the entire Obuasi people in the course of the season. The bankroller in recent weeks has been tagged with match-fixing allegations.
According to reports, there have been several meetings held by Anglogold at Gold house, Accra on possible letting Dr Kwaku Frimpong step down.
However, Silver FM sources reveal that many business moguls including former Asante Kotoko Chairman, Herbert Mensah who is also the Administrator and President of the Ghana Rugby Association has expressed interest in taking over the position as the club’s bankroller.
