The CIES Observatory has released its ranking of players with the highest market value at the moment. And unsurprisingly, Kylian Mbappé leads the way.
How much would Kylian Mbappé cost now? This is the question that is probably asked in Madrid, but it is always difficult to assess the exact values of the players, since they depend on many parameters. Among them, the player’s benefits necessarily, his age, his track record and the expiration date of his contract. In its weekly letter, the CIES (Center International d’Etude du Sport) observatory reveals its top 100 of the most expensive players on the planet.
Not surprisingly, it is therefore the star of Paris Saint-Germain, who comes out on top. Its value is estimated at 259.2 million euros by CIES. He has a considerable lead over his dolphin, who is none other than Raheem Sterling, the Manchester City striker. The Three Lions player is currently worth 194.7 million euros according to the published study. Finally, it is a fellow Citizen who completes the podium, since Jadon Sancho would cost today 179.1 million euros.
A great English domination
And young Englishmen are popular, since of the first five, four come from across the Channel! Trent Alexander-Arnold, the formidable side of Liverpool, is fourth (171.1 M €), while Marcus Rashford is fifth (152.3 M €). A British domination which is also reflected in the championships, since behind the Red Devil, there are still Premier League players, namely Mohammed Salah (€ 144.9 million) and Sadio Mané (€ 139.2 million), two Liverpool stars. Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann, eighth, is the first Liga player represented on the list, with a value of 136.4 million euros. He is also the oldest player in the top 10 from the age of 29.
Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich, € 133.5 million) and Harry Kane (Tottenham, € 118.7 million) complete this top 10. Note that seven Ligue 1 players are present in the top 100, namely Marquinhos (89.2 million €), Neymar (82.7 M €), Houssem Aouar (69.2 M €), Victor Osimhen (64.3 M €), Moussa Dembélé (54.2 M €), Marco Verratti (50.8 M €), and Jonathan Ikoné (49.1)
