Sierra Leone were eliminated from the WAFU ‘A’ Zone qualifiers for the Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2021 having conceded their second defeat on Sunday, during the 2nd day of the ongoing tournament in Thiès, Senegal.
Sierra Leone conceded a heavy 0-5 defeat against Mali. Diallo’s double and goals from Koita, Doumbia and Maiga gave Mali their first win and consequently semifinal tickets alongside Guinea Bissau from Group B. Their final Group game will determine who finishes first.
In Group A, Gambia, who lost in the opening 2-4 to Senegal, rebounded to beat Mauritania 2-0.
Jatta put the Baby Scorpions ahead before Maron added a second in injury time.
Mauritania must beat Senegal on Tuesday to remain in contention for next month’s Morocco based U-17 AFCON.
The top two from each group will play the semi-finals, and the finalists will represent the zone at the AFCON finals.
