Despite their overwhelming performance in the ongoing premier league of which they lead the log, Aduana Stars Communications officer Evans Oppong has claimed his outfit does not have the ambitions of winning the league title this season.
The Dormaa based club currently lead the 2019/2020 premier league table with points after match day 7, two points above second placed Berekum Chelsea. The Ogya lads, at the start of the season, were not considered one of the favourites to lift the ultimate, but the two times champions of the elite division have surprised all by producing surprising results with just seven matches played so far.
Contrary to the believe of many pundits that Aduana Stars have a brighter chance of winning the league title, the club’s Communications Officer Evans Oppong has shrugged off those hopes probably to take off pressure from the players, saying the club does not have any ambitions of winning the league this season.
“It is not our objective to win the league”, Evans Oppong told foxfmonline in an interview. “Before the league (started) we made all Ghanaians that looking at our project apart having some senior players, we signed players from second tier of third tier divisions and averagely their ages are not above 16 years, so telling such a player to win a league title the expectations will be too huge for him to carry on his shoulder”, Evans stated.
According to Evans, Aduana Stars just want to groom the players to ensure the telipathy is achieved this season so that they make winning the title a target for the 2020/2021 season. He further stressed that his outfit just want to do well this season and to finish in a respectable position on the league table at the end of the season.
“Before understanding will take players among the old and new players it will take a little time. Our objective in the league this season is just to do well for the players to study things, so that is the only thing we are working on, it is not the league title that is our target and it’s not a mind game too because we not that the project we are doing only bear fruits for us next year”, he concluded.
Aduana Stars, leaders of the league log now have already arrived in Cape Coast where they will play against Ebusua Dwarfs in the match day 8 fixture.
