The newly appointed Chief Commercial Officer of Ghana premier League greats Accra Hearts of Oak, Charles Kwarteng has outlined plans he has put in place to maximize growth of the club’s brand, and to enhance methods of income generation and proper branding by adopting measures to ensure the club’s Umbro replica jerseys reach every single supporter of the club wherever they may be located.
Following his appointment, Charles assumed office on 1st September, 2019 and has now, in his first ever media interview since his appointment, outlined steps his outfit has put in place to strengthen the commercial values of the brand Hearts of Oak.
“Hearts of Oak is a very big club, I mean both in Ghana and in Africa Hearts of Oak is one of the biggest clubs that command a lot of support base”, Charles, speaking to Fox FM on the nationwide sports programme, Focal Sports.
“In the short term we want use the brand Hearts of Oak to inject excitement and money into the club. What I want to bring on board is to help take Hearts of Oak to the level we want to take it to, we want to see Hearts at the level of big clubs in Europe whose activities appeal to everyone”, he revealed.
In his submission, Charles tipped massive sales of the club’s Umbro replica jerseys by bringing it to the doorsteps of all supporters regardless of their location, as his primary objective and the starting point to sell Hearts of Oak to the world.
“One of the innovations we are embarking on is to get our replica jerseys closer to our supporters wherever they are. This weekend Saturday, 21st September there is a probramme going on at Burma Camp Sports Complex – Accra dubbed “City Business Olympics”, so we will take our replica jerseys there closer to our fans because the people working at the corporate sector are not able to come to our secretariat to buy the jerseys due to the nature of their job”, he emphasised.
Despite attempts by the Hearts of Oak to distribute the jerseys across all regions of the country, the efforts have not been enough and some supporters of the club, who find theselves in other regions other than greater Accra, feel left out, but the Chief Commercial Officer, Charles, has assured of plans being put in place to embark on a nationwide tour to locate every Phobian with the replica jersey which have been in high demand.
“We know our support base cut across every aspect of Ghana so we’ve designed a programme to tour the whole country to send the replica jerseys to wherever every Hearts of Oak fan is located so everyone can have access. Before the league starts we want everybody who is a Hearts of Oak fan has a replica shirt to wear to support the club”, Charles assured.
According to Charles, the club wants the replica jerseys to serve as everyday fashionable wear so fans can wear it to church, to the pub among other social activities.
The Umbro replica jerseys are selling at GHC150 each for person who are members of the Phobia4Life supporters club and GHC160 for non Phobia4Life members.
