Black Stars striker Raphael Dwamena has been diagnosed with a heart defect which was discovered on Wednesday during a routine medical checks ups in Spain.
His current club Spanish side Real Zaragoza have confirmed the Ghana international will undergo further medical examination to ascertain the extent of the situation to identify the needed resolution.
“The striker will undergo new tests to determine the extent of his illness. Real Zaragoza is confident of Raphael Dwamena’s fast and complete recovery,”, Zaragoza announced in a statement.
To recall, Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion pulled out of a deal to sign the Black Stars forward during the summer 2017 transfer window after medical checks discovered the player had a heart problem. Brighton had agreed terms to buy Dwamena from FC Zurich for a fee of £10m.
The Ghana international signed a four years deal with La Liga side UD Levante last season before being loaned to Zaragoza. While it is yet to be established whether the current discovery relates to the one suffered in 2017, the latest development rules him out of football indefinitely.
