Asante Kotoko Greater Accra Circles P. R. O Nii Darko has taken a deep swipe at the head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak Kim Grant, saying, comparing him to coach Maxwell Konadu is like comparing a hoe to a mower.
Asante Kotoko are set to announce Black Stars B head coach Maxwell Konadu as the new head coach of the club, and the Greater Accra supporters wing Communications Officer of the Porcupine Warriors believes that Kim Grant comes nowhere near Maxwell in terms of credentials, experience and achievements in coaching.
According to Nii Darko, of the 18 clubs that will be competing in the 2019/2020 premier league, no other club has a coach with better credentials, experience and achievements comparable to Maxwell and Grant’s experience is just a drop in the ocean.
The comments are likely to test wrath of the Phobian supporters ahead of 2019 President Cup match between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak come Sunday, but Nii is emphatic on his pronouncements as he sees it to be no arguable.
“Ah! What are you talking about, we are talking of a mower then you are also talking of a hoe, how can you compare hoe to a mower”?, Nii Darko fumed speaking to Fox FM when asked about comparing Kim to Maxwell.
“I thought you will compare other coaches to Maxwell Konadu instead, how do you compare Kim [Grant] to Maxwell, why do you compare a hoe to a mower”?, he asked.
Maxwell Konadu has coached Wa All Stars and Asante Kotoko in the top flight, won the the WAFU Cup on two occasions with the Black Stars B for Ghana, took Ghana to the WAFU final in Egypt 2019 where they won silver. He has also won the premier league with Asante Kotoko in his first stint as head coach of the Porcupine Warriors.
Hearts of Oak head coach Kim Grant on the other hand, has has managed premiership side Elmina Sharks, Bangladeshi side Saif Sporting Club and now manages Accra Hearts of Oak, 20 times champions of the Ghana Premier League. He has won for Hearts of Oak the Obaahemaa Abena Agyei Memorial Cup and the Homowo Festival Cup.
