In confirmation of ghanasportspage.com publication on May 6, 2020 regarding the cancellation of the 202019/2020 football season, the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the much awaited decision.
In a what the FA described as “a marathon meeting” on Tuesday June 30, 2020 at the GFA secretariat in Accra, the Executive Council of the FA has cancelled the 2019/2020 football season.
“The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has taken a decision to cancel the 2019/2020 football season following a marathon meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the GFA Secretariat in Accra”, the FA announced via its official twitter account.
The Ghana premier league, the Division One League, the MTN FA Cup competition and the National Women’s League has been suspended since 16th March this year due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, and have now been officially nullified with all records declared a nullity.
In effect, the 2019/2020 premier league and the FA Cup competition will not be used for official records, and will not be used to decide which clubs qualify to represent Ghana in the 2020/2021 CAF inter club competitions.
