Premier League outfit Elmina Sharks have debunked reports in the media which alleges that the club’s players have been ejected from the rented club house where the club is housing its players due to piled unpaid arrears of rent.
Reports in the local media, specifically in the central region indicate that the Elmina based club has left the playing body homeless after the owner of the apartment being occupied by the players has ejected the players due to the club’s failure to settle the rent over a long period now.
The club has issued a statement on the matter, not only to deny the reports, but to also announce that the club has decided not to rent the said apartment any more.
The statement, released on Friday, dated August 14, 2020 comes in four numbered points which has been quoted below:
“We have noticed various publications on the facility where we house our players when football activities are in session”, the statement began.
- The property was rented in the year 2016 and the team have occupied it for four (4) years renewed every two (2) years.
- The management of Elmina Sharks & the owner of the property have agreed now not to renew the agreement.
- The Management of the team have decided to house the playing body in the team’s own facility when the football session resumes.
- We are grateful to the owner of the property for the four years we have occupied the property.
We urge all supporters and the entire Elmina Sharks family to remain calm and disregard all other publications”, the statement concluded.
