Ashantigold SC left back Eric Donkor has parted ways with the club after two years of stay with the Obuasi based side, and has confirmed his departure with joyous letter to the fans and the to brass of the club.
The former Asante Kotoko defender joined Ashantigold as a free agent in 2018 after his release by Kotoko, and has since proved essential to the Miners in the domestic and continental campaigns. Donkor was an integral part of the Ashantigold team that played in the 2019/2020 CAF Confederations Cup in the preliminary stages before they were edged out by RS Berkane.
He won the tie 2 of the GFA’s Normalization Committee Special Competition with the club, and also helped the placed well in the 2019/2020 domestic league before it was cancelled after 15 matches played due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Donkor took to social media to announce his departure from the club, thanking Board of Directors of the club, Management, the technical team, teammates, the supporters for their unflinching support given him during his stay with the club.
“After two wonderful years, my time with Ashantigold SC has come to an end”, he announced.
“Special thanks to the President, Dr Kwaku Frimpong, Board of Directors, Management, to the coaches, to all my talented teammates and all the employees at the club”, he wrote.
The killer goals scoring defender also expressed his deep gratitude to the club’s supporters, saying they made him “feel special” whiles at the club.
“Another special thank you to all the ever present supporters and fans who made me feel so happy and so special during my time here. Your constant support to the team on and off the pitch cannot be overlooked”, the letter acknowledged.
Donkor has previously played for Windy Professionals, Accra Hearts of Oak (2009/2010 season – on loan from Windy Professionals) and Asante Kotoko.
