Ghana Premier League (GPL) greats Accra Hearts of Oak have denied all reports of covid-19 case rise in the club’s camp, and have confirmed their 2020/21 season league opener against Aduana Stars to go ahead as planned.

News broke out on Monday that the number of covid-19 cases in the camp of the Phobians had risen to 32, after second test on players, management members and technical team showed 32 persons test positive for the virus. This was after Hearts of Oak had announced last Saturday that “Three people out of the team that went for corona test have tested positive, and have been referred to the appropriate quarters for isolation and treatment”.

Speaking to ghanasportspage.com, Communications Director of the club, Kwame Opare Addo denied reports of any new covid-19 cases recorded at the club, saying, the case count at the club still stands at three as the club earlier reported.

There were rising fear that the club’s season opener against Aduana Stars in Dormaa on Saturday, November 14, may not come on as scheduled, but Opare refuted such claims to restore calm amidst supporters of the club.

“We are playing our first match”, Oprare Addo confirmed. “We will play, there is nothing in limbo as people are saying, we are going to play our first match against Aduana”, he maintained.

In response to the news of newly recorded covid-19 cases at the club, Opare set the records straight.

“No management member has covid anywhere. The news is what I have told you, we will play our match against Aduana as scheduled. The covid cases we had are the three we reported”, he clarified.

Hearts of Oak will travel to Dormaa Ahenkro to play their first game of te 2020/2021 league season against Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu II park on Saturday, November 14.
