Accra Hearts of Oak have now primarily been cleared, pending official comments from the GFA, to begin their new season campaign after latest mandatory covid-19 tests carried out on the playing body proved negative.
The Phobians were prevented from playing their season opening game away at Dormaa against Aduana Stars due to suspected covid-19 cases in the club’s camp. Hearts of Oak were to face the “Ogya Boys” on Saturday, November 14, but the Ghana Football Association (GFA) postponed the match indefinitely after being informed by the Ministry of Health of suspected covid-19 cases in the camp of the Phobians.
The team was directed to carry another test while still in quarantine. On Monday November 16, the tests were done and the results, according to reports, have all proved negative, giving Hearts of Oak all clear to start their season with match day two fixture against Ashantigold SC.
The premier league match week two fixture between Hearts of Oak and Ashgold, which was initially scheduled for November 21, has now been moved to November 24 by the GFA, probably an indication that the road is now cleared for Hearts of Oak to start playing matches.
The postponement is purposely to allow Accra Hearts of Oak enough time to prepare for the match, which will be the Phobians first home match of the 2020/2021 league season.
