The Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Cudjoe Fianoo has finally picked up a nomination form to seek reelection during when the Association goes to the polls in the next two months.
At their Annual Congress held on Thursday, November 5, 2020, the Association fixed Thursday, January 21, 2021 as the date to hold fresh elections to elect new executives who will steer the affairs of the clubs for the next four-year tenure, and the sitting chairman, Cudjoe Fianoo announced his intentions to see a second term.
The former Ashanti Gold CEO has kept his words by picking the nomination form to officially file for his candidacy for the upcoming elections. The deadline for submission of the nomination forms has been set for Thursday, December 3, 2020 and Fianoo hopes to submit his form at least two days before the official deadline.
“I have picked up my nomination form and I hope to submit it by Tuesday, December 1”, Cudjoe Fianoo confirmed to ghanasportspage.com.
The original date for the said elections has been shifted forward to enable the Electoral Commission (EC), the Constitutionally mandated body for conducting elections in the country, get ample time to conduct and supervise the elections. The EC is currently occupied with national elections activities as the nation goes to the polls on Monday, December 7 to elect a President and members of parliament for the next four years, and GHALCA chose the date for their elections with this in mind.
The elections will now be held Thursday, January 21, 2021.
