Aduana Stars right-back Caleb Amankwah has left the club after talks to renew his expired contract with the club fell through at the latter stages of negotiations.
The 23-year old defender joined the Dormaa based side on a three-year deal on December 20, 2017 from Ghana Premier League side West African Football Academy (WAFA), and has since live up to the worth every penny spent on him. The exploits of the guardsman means that Aduana Stars would do everything possible to keep him at the club, but efforts to extend the contract of Caleb has fallen through as both sides failed to reach agreed terms.
Specifically speaking, Caleb’s contract with the two times premier league champions expired on Sunday, December 20, 2020, making it impossible for the former WAFA star to play the ongoing premier league week six fixture between Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars taking place today, December 21, 2020 at the Golden City Park. As a result, Caleb Amankwah has since left the club and is back to Kumasi, his residence though the club is yet to break camp for the upcoming Christmas.
“The contract has run out it, it ran out yesterday, 20th December, 2020”, Nuhu Sakibu, manager of Caleb Amankwah confirmed in an interview with ghanasportspage.com.
The representative of the player are reluctant to make known what prevented the two parties from reaching an agreement, neither is he willing to disclose what awaits his client after leaving the coach Paa Kwasi Fabin’s side.
“I think everyone knows the calibre of player Caleb is, and he has played the league for so many years and I think it’s time for him to also move on because it’s not because he wanted to leave Aduana leave because his management were not able to agree on terms with Aduana”, Nuhu explained.
He is however not willing to tell the way forward for his client presently as he believes they need a little time to reflect on things before making any statement to that effect.
“As for the next step I can’t tell for now, I can’t say anything for certain concerning his next step because I think about two days ago we spoke a lot about it, it was rather unfortunate that we couldn’t extend his contract because we couldn’t agree on terms”, he added.
Nuhu is however not ruling out a possible return to the negotiations table with Aduana.
“Caleb Amankwah would be able to extend his contract if everything was fully realised. If we are able to agree on terms why not, he would like to play, football is all about negotiations but it’s rather unfortunate we couldn’t agree on terms”, he said.
