The 2020/2021 season of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) will go on break after the last fixture of Match Day 6, which sees Aduana Stars travel to Berekum to face Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in a regional derby.
The current GPL season which commenced on Saturday, November 14, 2020, and per the Ghana Football Association calendar for the season, is expected to end with Matchday 34 on Sunday, July 18, 2021.
The league has so far produced some exciting and scintillating competitive performances from the participating clubs, most especially clubs usually seen as middle table clubs, leaving the big names struggling to appease their numerous fans with comfortable wins. The league is proceeding on recess without Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Ashanti Gold Sporting Club, Medeama Sporting club featuring in the top four finishing clubs. However, Asante Kotoko have 8 points out of a possible 15 from the 5 matches they’ve played, and a win on December 27 against Medeama Sporting Club in their outstanding match will see the Porcupines climb the ladder to the top 4 clubs with 11 points.
According to the league calendar, the 2020/2021 season will officially proceed on Christmas break by the close of working hours on Monday, December 21, 2020, and will is expected to resume with Match Day 7 on Friday, January 1, 2021.
The Match Day 7 fixtures have been scheduled to take place from Friday, 1st to Monday 4th January, 2021 across the nine league match venues.
