Former Accra Hearts of Oak and Ghana Black Satellites defender Karim Alhassan has ruled out possibilities of his former employers securing a win over his current club Accra Great Olympics in the much anticipated Accra derby on Saturday.
In a fierce contest over who owns the Ga lands in football terms, 20 times champions of the Ghana Premier League, Accra Hearts of Oak will host their city rivals Accra Great Olympics this evening in the matchday 11 fixture of the ongoing 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season at the Accra Sports stadium.
Accra Hearts of Oak are placed 3rd on the league table currently with 16 points from their previous 10 games, while Olympics lie 7th with 15 points. Accra Great Olympics, one of the pioneers of the premier league as far back as 1956, are in good form this season and even subjected Asante Kotoko to a 1-0 defeat when the two sides faced off this season.
Accra Hearts of Oak, another pioneer of the league who currently boast of 20 league titles, are enjoying a good run of form under Serbian coach Kosta Papic, losing only one in their last 7 league matches.
Ahead of today’s game, Great Olympics defender Karim Alhassan is confident that his side will surely carry the day as he does not see any possibility of his former club winning.
“Looking at the form of Olympics and that of Hearts of Oak, the game will be nice”, Karim told ghanasportspage.com
“Oh as for that (Hearts beating Olympics) it cannot be possible, for me what I know is that after 90 minutes we are winning”, he insisted.
The game has been scheduled for 6pm this evening at the Accra sports stadium.
