Asante Kotoko have officially confirmed their assistant coach Abdul Gazale as the head coach of the club, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
In a publication by the GFA Monday, February 8, 2021, the nation’s football governing body confirmed that the premier league giants have written to the federation to confirm Mr Gazale as the new head coach of the club, following the sacking of former head coach Maxwell Konadu in December 2020.
“Asante Kotoko have today, February 8, 2021 notified the Ghana Football Association of the confirmation of the appointment of Coach Abdul Gazale, a CAF License “A” holder as the substantive head coach of the club”, the FA announced.
Acting in accordance with the “Duty To Notify” requirement by clubs and the Club Licensing Process, Asante Kotoko SC notified the GFA of the interim appointment of assistant coach Abdul Gazale and Johnson Smith as head coach and assistant respectively for a 30 day period on December 22, 2020.
The Porcupine Warriors were reminded by the GFA on On Wednesday, January 20, 2021 of the expiry of the interim appointment and the need to confirm a substantive appointment on or before the January 22, 2021 by the Association or risk being sanctioned.
In compliance with the GFA directive, Asante Kotoko have now confirmed to the FA the appointment of Abdul Gazale as the head coach for both their domestic and continental competitions for the remainder of the 2020/21 season. The GFA has since asked Asante Kotoko to furnish them with the contractual documents of coach Gazale’s appointment in line with the club licensing regulations.
