Medeama SC missed out on the chance to go top of the Ghana premier league table following a 1-2 defeat to WAFA SC at the Akoon Park.
Prince Opoku Agyemang gave Medeama the lead capitalizing on poor defending from the Academy Boys before kissing the back of the net just two minutes into the game.
The Tarkwa-based side maintained total dominance of the midfield and created more and more scoring chances but their dominance was sterile in the entire first half.
WAFA drew level taking full advantage of Medeama’s poor loose ball in the middle of the park. Issah Basit picked out Enock Asubinteng and he took a touch before drilling his shot across goal to pick out the far bottom corner to make it 1-1 in the 53rd-minute before a goal in the final minutes sealed the 2-1 win for the Academy boys.
The defeat now leaves Medeama third on the log with 40 points, one behind leaders Asante Kotoko who have a game in hand.
