Asante Kotoko fans based in the United State have offered to pay the fine imposed on their head coach Mariano Barreto and deputy captain Emmanuel Gyamfi.
Barreto was handed a two game ban and GHC 3,000 fine by the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee for his ‘offensive statement’ about referees after Kotoko game against Legon Cities on May 1, which the association deem inappropriate for the reputation of the league.
Also, Emmanuel Gyamfi had a one match ban and GHC1,000 fine as retrospective punishment for his misconduct committed at the blind side of the referee during Kotoko’s win against Inter Allies on week 29.
The fee amount to a total of GHC 4,000.
The ‘Loyal Red Army’ group through an influential Kotoko fan on Twitter with the handle @BigJoe_Kotoko have shown their willingness to pay up the cost of the fine.
However, the club’s management have to either accepted or reject the gesture by the fans.
At the moment, Gyamfi has served his match ban, missing the MTN FA Cup win against Asokwa Deportivo on Tuesday, July 6. Hence, he will be available this weekend against Bechem United if the fine is settled.
Whereas Barreto will mis the weekend clash at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park with one game left to serve.
