Mark Agyekum grabbed a brace for Ashanti Gold as the Miners beat Aduana Stars to progress into the quarterfinals of the MTN FA Cup.
The Gold and Blacks had an empathetic 2-4 victory at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Wednesday to advance to the next stage of the domestic cup at the expense of Aduana.
Gordon Brooklyn gave the visitors an early inside 10 minutes of the game, which was the only goal in the first period.
In the second half, Mark Agyekum doubled the lead three minutes after the break.
David Abanga made it three in what seemed like a riot for the away side.
Aduana had to put their ‘A’ game up and fight for a comeback with Nathan reducing the deficit on the 56th minutes.
But Agyekum once again increased the deficit 4 minutes later, making the score 1-4.
Emmanuel Osei Baffour put the home side back in the games with 19 minutes left on the clock to push the game into penalties.
Ashanti Gold, however, managed to hold their ground throughout the remaining minutes and 6 minutes of additional time to secure the qualification.
