Legon Cities, head coach, Bashir Hayford has confirmed that his absence from Cities’ bench is on the account of a granted months’ leave.
Several reports claimed that the former Ashanti Gold trainer refuse to execute his duty as the head coach due to the appointment of Maxwell Konadu as technical director, who the former refer to as his Junior in the field.
Instead, Bashir revealed that he proceeded a leave which was supposed to be at the end of the season to ease off pressure if on Konadu.
“I’m on leave because Maxwell told the board he cannot work whiles I’m around the club, I want to give him that space to work and see what he can do.” – Bashir Hayford told Angel FM
“I’m still the head coach of the club, and on my contract, nothing has changed to that effect. I want him to complete the season and we will all go to the boardroom to decide.” – He added.
Maxwell Konadu’s appointment was to augment Legon Cities bench in their quest to survive in the first tier Division.
The ex-Black Stars assistant manager has lost his first league game in charge making the club’s last game of season a must win in order to achieve the goal.
