- Box to Box Midfielder, Benjamin Afutu Kotey has reached an agreement to extend his stay at Hearts of Oak for three years, according to reports from Kickgh.com.
The midfielder was linked to a couple of Premier League clubs including Karela United FC and a deal in Azerbaijan due to a slow negotiation regarding his contract extension early this year but returned to Pobiman to join his teammates for the second half of the season.
According to the report, Afutu who has been a mainstay in the Hearts’ midfield has agreed to continue at the club until 2024 after helping the Phobians win their 21st league title this season after going 12 years with a trophy.
Afutu has contributed to eight goals for the Phobians in their season’s campaign, scoring five times and providing three assists in 28 appearances.
The 25-year-old midfielder joined the Phobians on a three-and-a-half years deal from Karela United in 2017 after impressing in a pre-season trial.
