Ashantigold thrashed relegated Inter Allies 7-0 at the Len Clay Stadium on Sunday in the final game of the Ghana Premier League.
After the game, a shred of video evidence emerged on Monday to point to a clear case of match-fixing which has rocked the integrity of the 2020-21 season.
Substitute Hashim Musah who is the substantive captain of Inter Allies scored an incredible two own goals to take the tally to 7-0 in the most shocking manner which has sparked outrage in the West African nation.
The Ghana Football Association is under pressure to mount an investigation into the match which has gained inches in the local media.
Speaking to Kumasi FM, Hashmin Musah revealed that he scored the two on goals to “spoil the bet” of a correct scoreline Ashantgold had staked.
“I heard it in our hotel that there was a correct scoreline of 5 goals to 1 against my club inter allies. I decided to spoil that bet because I don’t condone betting”
“After the game, my technical team commended me for spoiling the bet they had staked”
“I promised my coach that if he allows me to play from the bench I will spoil the bet and after the game my team congratulated me”
Allegation of match-fixing has rocked the Ghanaian top-flight this season with a number of top officials, journalists, reporters and fans heavily involved in the betting syndicate.
