The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has declared Real Tamale United winners of Match Day 27 game against BA United at Coronation Park in Sunyani.
Fans of Divison One League side, BA United, mercilessly beat up referee Maxwell Hanson after he awarded a first half penalty for Real Tamale United in their National Division One League game. Referee Hanson was unable to continue the match after the incident, bringing a premature end to the game.
Following the referee’s inability to proceed with the match, RTU filed a protest against B.A. United, praying the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA to award them the 3 points at stake, as well as 3 goals, in accordance with Regulations of the GFA.BA United also filed a protest against Real Tamale United.
Aside cases presented by both teams, the Disciplinary Committee in its ruling acknowledged evidence from the official video, Referees report, Match Commissioner’s report and the security committee post-match report.
Having gone through all these, “the Committee finds that by attacking the Referee in the 40th minute of after Referee Maxwell Hanson awarded a penalty to Real Tamale United FC, the supporters of Brong Ahafo United FC initiated the acts that led to the abrupt end of the match.”
The Disciplinary Committee, hence, dismissed the protest of BA United and allowed the protest of Real Tamale United to succeed.
BA United shall forfeit the match in accordance with article 33(1)(b) of the Division One League Regulations.
Three points and three goals are awarded to Real Tamale United, in accordance with article 33(2) and 34(12).
BA United shall lose three points from accumulated points pursuant to article 33(5).
BA United has been fined Two Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis to be paid to the Ghana Football Association, of which Fifty Percent shall be to Real Tamale United in accordance with article 33(5)(b) of the Division One League Regulations.
Real Tamale United shall be Five Hundred Ghana Cedis as transportation expenses by BA United.
The fines are to be paid to the Ghana Football Association within fourteen days upon receipt of the verdict. A failure to honor those amount by BA United shall forfeit their subsequent matches after the said deadline.
By this rulings, Real Tamale United will move to 62 points in Zone One, two points adrift of leaders Bofoakwa Tano, after 29 league games.
In their last game of the season, Bofoakwa Tano play guest to Berekum Arsenal while Real Tamale United host Unity FC.
