Former Hearts of Oak captain Jacob Nettey has named midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway as his best player in coach Samuel Boadu’s team.
Botcway has been in excellent form for the Phobians since the arrival of head coach Samuel Boadu, featuring as an ever-present when available in the side that won the 2020-21 Premier League few weeks ago – a title they’ve not won since the 2008-09 season.
He played 18 times in the league this season, scoring twice. He’s featured in nine wins and only three losses, keeping six clean sheets in the process.
There’s no doubt that he’s been one of the most important players in Samuel Boadu’s side this year, even if he doesn’t get the full credit he deserves.
In an interview with Original FM, Nettey overlooked Ibrahim Salifu, who has made a stunning impact in the capital this season. Benjamin Afutu, Mohammed Alhassan and Afriyie Barnieh, have also missed out.
Instead, Jacob Nettey, former skipper of the side chose 24-year-old Frederick Ansah Botchway as his star man in the team.
Jacob Nettey captained Hearts to win six league titles. Under his tenure, the Rainbow club extended their unprecedented local dominance to the continent, winning the CAF Champions League, the maiden CAF Confederations Cup and the CAF Super Cup.
