Asante Kotoko have finally extended the contract of their newly appointed captain Abdul Ismail Ganiu for two years. Ganiu whose contract was bound to run out this month has now signed new terms with the Reds that will run until 2023.
After a series of negotiations that lasted for about four months, Kotoko via their social media handle announced the new deal with the Black Stars defender.
A tweet by the club reads:
Ismail Ganiu joined the Porcupines in 2018 from Karela and at the moment he is the longest-serving player in the squad. Hence, after the departure of Felix Annan and Emmanuel Gyamfi, the 24-year-old assumed the role as the leader of the Reds.
