Newly promoted Ghana Premier League side RTU are in talks to sign Etta Bawak Thomas from Coton Sport de Garoua in Cameroon. The first-class defender in Contonsport is set to pen a three-year contract with Real Tamale United.
“Yes I am in contact with the Club, it is a historic club. Abedi Pele played for the badge, but for now, I can’t provide further comment on the situation,” Bawak told kick442.com in Cameroon.
The 27-year old full-back who is out of contract with Coton Sport FC de Garoua helped the club land their 16th domestic crown last Wednesday following a 3-1 win against APEJES of Mfou in his 25th and final game of the season.
The former DAC2000 full-back has been one of the most exciting defenders in Cameroon in the last five seasons.
Bawak, once of the Olympic team and even preselected in the senior team in 2016, Under coach Hugo Broos is an integral part of the current Intermediate Lions team under coach Yves Clement Arroga.
Switching to Real Tamale United will provide a first real opportunity for the player abroad and in Ghana, though the strong full-back previously played against Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation in the 2018/2019 season.
Real Tamale United have returned to the Ghana Premier League for the first time in eight years and the team is at the heart of preparations for the new season expected to kick-off on October 29.
The former Under-23 international for Cameroon played 86 games in local and international competitions during his three year stay at Cotonsport of Garoua.
