Ghana Football Association (GFA) communications director, Henry Asante Twum has said the association is planning no vaccination no stadium entry for supporters in the new football season.
According to Twum, the FA has held discussions with government’s COVID-19 task force regarding how to roll out the vaccination process for the fans but both parties are yet to reach consensus.
Information reaching ghanasportspage.com shows that the football governing body want to increase the number of stadium attendance from last season’s 25% to 50% or 70% and could only be possible if the majority has been vaccinated.
“Vaccination in other parts of the world is compulsory but here we are yet to vaccinate everybody and we are rather doing it in phases.
“So we are still appealing to them(Government COVID-19 task force) that they should let us roll out gradually…
Yes it is one of the things we have discussed [no vaccination, no entry ] and I want to believe that at the right time we will draw conclusion on it.” He said in an audio aired on Angel FM
At the moment, it unclear the number of fans that will be allowed at match venues as the start of the national league is imminent.
The 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season kicks of on Friday, October 29 as newcomers Accra Lions host Elmina Sharks at Accra Sports Stadium to open what it anticipated to be a roller coaster ride.
