- Coming from a goal down to win the game comprehensively in the last 10 minutes is a great confidence booster for the team. The players will begin to believe that till the referee blows the whistle for the end of the match, they can win.
- The team is still at the stage where most players still believe they can make it into the first team. Such a team is dangerous. Substitutes will fight till the end of the match to make it into the first team.
That may explain Kotoko’s resurgence in the last 10 minutes of the game. - When there is a player like Richmond Lamptey in the team who can hit the ball from far (from outside the 18-yard box), there is always a threat to opposing teams. The last kick of the match can always be the winning goal.
Reminds me of Isaac Boachie in the early 2000s. - Isaac Oppong had a great debut. If he continues like this, he will be like Joe Debrah in the late 1980s/early 1990s for Kotoko.
Kotoko’s large fan base will be trooping to the stadium week in week out just to watch him.
A potential ‘cash cow.’
How long Kotoko will keep him if he excels is another matter (Kwame Poku on my mind, who last season did not complete his first season with Kotoko).
To Kotoko fans, I will advise ‘cautious optimism.’ The team needs time to develop. High expectations will put too much pressure on the team which can be detrimental to team building.
