Legon Cities picked their first win of the season against GPL returnees Real Tamale United at the Accra Sports Stadium after 3-2 victory. Legon Cities drawn in their first game of the season to Hearts and RTU also secured late equalizer from a spot kick to draw 1-1 with Great Olympics in Week 1 at the Tamal Sports Stadium.
The away side, RTU put up massive performance but Legon Cities were the favorite side to win the game on Saturday afternoon.
Joseph Agyei, Nathaniel Akwah and Jonah Atuquaye were able to grab the 3 goals for Legon Cities with David Sandan scoring twice for RTU.
In a post match interview, Coach Maxwell Kanadu explained what actually took his team to the right direction to secure their first win and first three points of the season.
According to the Black Stars assistant coach the away side were little bit ahead of them so he managed to change his style of play and bring in some players who can stop the opponent after realizing they were left behind in the midfield.
“They were great in the first half but we went in the second half and came back very strong to get the two goals so that changed everything. I can’t say that they played in the first half and we played in the second half.
“We identified that their two pivot guys were doing the job for them and tried to go around it. We saw that they are very good in midfield and so we made the changes and it changed the face of the game but I have to be honestly play very very well in the first half and that gave us the win.” He said.
Legon Cities will lock horns against their rivals Accra Great Olympics in Week 3 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Legon Cities haven’t left Accra this season but will in Week 4 do so to compete WAFA in Sogakope.
They currently sit on top of the league with four points after two games but there are more matches coming up today.
