Gambia lined-up a strong side to face Mauritania including the likes of Ebrima Colley of AS Roma, Assan Ceesay of Zurich, Musa Barrow of Bologna, Suleymana Marreh of KAA Gent, Omar Colley of Sampdoria for their first ever AFCON game.
The one goal record of the 2021 African Cup of Nations continues as the Gambia national trailed the Mauritanians with a goal courtesy Ablie Jallow following an assist from Musa Barrow.
The victory leaves them as joint leaders of the table in Group F alongside West African giants Mali who defeated Tunisia by same result in the afternoon.
