Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Raza Abalora is set to join Moldovan side FC Sheriff Tiraspol who play in the Modovan top flight division, according to reports in the local media.
Asante Kotoko have declined to comment on the reports, and have neither denied nor authenticate the spreading rumor.
Abalora joined Asante Kotoko on a three-year deal in October 2020 after leaving Azam FC, and is just into few months of his second season with the 23-time champions of the Ghana Premier League.
Sources of ghanasportspage.com confirm that the deal is almost done and the club is set to announce his departure in a matter of days, if not hours. Abalora sat on the bench for Asante Kotoko in their derby against Ashantigold last Sunday, where goalkeeper Danlad was given the nod to start. This may ring a bell as a move to introduce Danlad as the number one for Kotoko in the absence of the departing Abalora.
His supposed next employers, FC Sheriff, set a record in the history of Moldovan football when they became the first ever Moldovan side to reach the group stages of the UEFA Champions League in 2021.
Reports say, the 25-year old former WAFA goalkeeper has already signed a three years deal with Sheriff, and will soon have the deal announced by both clubs.
