Defending Champions of the Ghana Premier League Accra Hearts of Oak are not giving up the fight to defend their 21s league title, head coach Samuel Boadu insists.
The current holders of the league title were condemned to a 1-0 defeat to Karela United on Saturday afternoon after conceding late in their GPL week 14 fixture.
Subject to the results from other matches to be played on Sunday, Hearts of Oak still sit 6th in the league log with 20 points, trailing leaders Asante Kotoko by 7 points with a game in hand against the Porcupine Warriors.
Asante Kotoko Will host Medeama Sporting club at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Sunday afternoon, and a win for the home side will mean Accra Hearts of Oak will tail them by 10 points difference.
Contrary to views that the title defence aspirations for Hearts of Oak are no longer a possibility, head coach Samuel Boadu has a different view.
“We are still on course. We know Hearts (of Oak) has lost but this is not the end of the game”, Boadu told StarTimes reporters after the game.
According to the former Medeama coach, Boadu, losing a football match is not exclusive to Hearts of Oak but other teams too.
“Just how Hearts has lost so can other teams also lose. We are still on course trying to push hard to reach the level we need to take Hearts (of Oak) to”, he insisted.
