Asante Kotoko’s display against premier league fellows Medeama Sporting Club in the premier league on Sunday is the best game of the team so far in the ongoing 2021/22 season, according to head coach Prosper Narteh Ogun.
Asante Kotoko defeated Medeama 1-0 at the Kumasi Baba Yara sports stadium in the match week 14 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL) on Sunday.
In a post-match interview, Medeama SC coach Umar Abdul Rabi admitted that Asante Kotoko “played better” on the day, and coach Ogun affirmed his opponent’s admission. The former WAFA gaffer said his team produced the best of performance against the Mauve and Yellows, taking absolute control of the game.
He described the performance of his boys as being a “fantastic” one.
“Fantastic. I think I saw the best of my team today”, coach Ogun told StarTimes after the game.
“We were very patient on the ball, we saw a lot of the ball, we made intelligent decisions on the ball, we created a lot of spaces on the field of play and we utilised those spaces. I’m impressed”, Ogun, looking delighted.
Ogun further stated factually, that his team Asante Kotoko pulled up best performance of the season so far, and remained on top of the game throughout.
“Yea! I think it’s the best performance I’ve seen especially in the first half. We were actually dominant, we controlled the tempo and the temperament of the game, we were just on top of the game especially in the first half”, he described.
After beating Medeama on Sunday, Asante Kotoko have now opened a 4 points lead on the league log with 30 points in 13 matches. They have a game outstanding against rivals Accra Hearts of Oak to be played later next month in Accra.
