Adama Traoré has been unveiled as Barcelona player this afternoon to the fans of the Spanish giants.
The La Liga returnee will wear the jersey number 11 at the club.
Almost seven years after having sold him, Barcelona re-signed Adama Traoré this past January. The winger has arrived on loan for the rest of the season from Wolves, although president Joan Laporta has indicated that the club sees him as an option beyond the next six months.
Once rated as one of the finest prospects to have come through at La Masia, Traore’s career has not progressed as anticipated as he has had stops and starts along the way. While he did enjoy some success at Wolves his productivity in front of goal has always raised concerns.
But, Xavi Hernandez & co. have placed great faith in the Spanish international by bringing him back to Camp Nou at a time when the club is going through a crucial rebuild.
While the fans are yet to see Traore back in action in Barcelona colours, the ex-Aston Villa winger has managed to catch the eye with impressive displays in training sessions.
The 26-year-old has a tally of just 11 goals and 18 assists from 154 appearances for Wolves. He had scored just once before moving to Camp Nou in January. Xavi & co. will be hoping that Traore will improve on those numbers in the coming months.
TRAORE’S REACTION
“Have a nice day everyone, I want to thank Laporta for the deal, as well as the family and all the crew. I will do everything I have to make the Barca fans proud of me, very happy to be back home, and I hope on Sunday to make the addition.”
“I have been away from home for seven years and I will do everything possible to make fans happy with me.”
“I’ve always been from Barça… Now we’re growing and what I’m here for is to help meet the team’s goals.”
