Ghana Premier League (GPL) debutants Bibiani Gold Stars have announced the signing of defender Farouk Adams from Aduana Stars to augment the squad for the ongoing 2021/2022 GPL season.
News of Farouk rjoining his former club, Gold Stars broke out in January this year, that the 32-year old defender was joining the Miners on a season long loan deal which would see him play for the Dun’s Park outfits till the end of the current league season. In a sketchy statement released on social media announcing the arrival of the player on Thursday, Bibiani Gold Stars confirmed the deal.
The deal is said to be a loan deal which will see Farouk play for coach Michael Osei’s side till the end of the season.
Farouk Adams completed his medicals for the Bibiani Gold Stars on Wednesday February 9, and the Miners took to social media to announce his arrival on Thursday.
Since the arrival of Thomas Boakye from Swedish side Halmstad BK, Farouk have struggled to make the starting line up of the Aduana Stars, and has now returned to Gold Stars to have more of the action as the season nears half time. In the 16 matches played so far in the premier league this season, the former Elmina Sharks centre back has featured only three times for the Dormaa based club.
Farouk joined Aduana Stars in 2018 on three years deal, and renewed his contract with the club for one more year in January 2021, a deal which is supposed to have expired weeks before today, 10th February, 2022. It is still unclear whether or not Farouk did extend his contract again for Aduana Stars before joining the Miners on loan now.
