The euphoria around the Super Clash continues as Ghana’s biggest football clubs, Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak are set for another blockbuster game in the President’s Cup competition.
The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has announced that the 2022 edition of the President’s Cup will be played between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak. The clubs association has set Friday, March 4, 2022 as the date for the giants to face off and compete for the ceremonial trophy.
GHALCA has announced that the match would be played at the Accra sports stadium at 6:00pm local time, with the President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo doing the ceremonial kick of.
“@HeartsOfOakGH will battle rivals @AsanteKotoko_SC in the 2022 President Cup on Friday, March 4. The match will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium at 6 pm. His Excellency President @NAkufoAddo will do the ceremonial kick-off and presentation of medals”, GHALCA announced on Tuesday.
Asante Kotoko are the most successful club in the history of the Ghana Annual Republic Day Cup (President’s Cup), having won the title on six (8) occasions, last in 2019 after beating Hearts of Oak by 2-1. Hearts of Oak on the other hand, have won the trophy on 8 occasions.
