Asante Kotoko have been scheduled to climax the Ghana Premier League (GPL) Matchweek 19 fixtures when they travel to Bechem to face Bechem United for the last fixture of the week, and coach Kassim Mingle has begun to issue a caution to the Porcupine Warriors before kick off in the next 24 hours.
Asatne Kotoko will go into the game against Bechem United as wounded lions, coming from a 2-1 defeat to the arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak last Friday. Coach Prosper Narteh’s side suffered the defeat to the ‘Phobians’ in the 2022 Independence Day President’s Cup and though not a competitive competition, Asante Kotoko look forward to appeasing their fans with victory over Bechem United to also avoid two successive defeats.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s game, Bechem United coach Kassim Mingle has directed the Porcupines to direct their anger to a different club and not on the Hunters. Kassim insists that Asante Kotoko will have no chance to even pick a point from the Nana Fosu Gyeabour park on Tuesday.
“They should send it [their anger] to other teams but not us”, Kassim warned, speaking to ghanasportspage.com.
“We are not afraid of them and we are very much prepared for them. In our home grounds I don’t think they can even take a point from us”, he insisted.
After 18 matches into the ongoing 2021/22 league campaign, Bechem United have played a maintained a hundred percent run without a single defeat. The Hunters have played 8 matches at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, won 7 and drawn 1. They remain undefeated at home so far this season and Kassim wants that record maintained against Asante Kotoko on Tuesday.
“We are preparing very well for them. You we we have never lost a match in our home grounds so we have to maintain that record”, Mingle stated.
Asante Kotoko on the other side of the coin are the best away performing club in the league so far this season ahead of Aduana Stars. The Porcupine Warriors have played a total of 8 matches away from home, won 4, drawn 3 and have lost just once away from home. Asante Kotoko have picked a total of 15 points away from home out of the possible 24, with Aduana Stars placing second, having accumulated 14 points from nine away matches so far.
Bechem United and Asante Kotoko game has been scheduled to kick off at 3:00pm local time on Tuesday.
