The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has provided updates on Black Stars training and camping schedules ahead of their titanic encounter.
Ghana’s contingent for the World Cup qualifier play-offs game against Nigeria will land in Ghana on Monday, 20th March 2022, five days before the game in Kumasi.
The Black Stars will fly in form from the nation’s capital where they will hold their first training before the departure to the match venue.
Ghana will be fighting to chase the ticket for their fourth World Cup appearance since 2014.
The team is also expected to unleash their AFCON anger on the Super Eagles following their abysmal performance at the recent AFCON in Cameroon.
Ghana will host the Nigerians on Friday, 25th March for the first leg of the decisive clash before the second leg in Abuja.
Speaking about the arrival of the players and training schedules ahead of the game, Twum Asante revealed, “Majority of the players will be playing for their clubs this weekend, both in the local league and outside Ghana.
“We plan to welcome every player who earned a call up just after playing with their clubs this weekend. We are expecting that all the players will be assembled on Monday, 20th March, 2022. We will camp them for a short period in Accra following their arrival and depart for Kumasi on Tuesday.
“Training will be in the section on Tuesday evening, Wednesday and Thursday in Kumasi before the kick-off on Friday.
“The coaches will also arrive on Sunday. I’m not sure that there wi be major training in Accra. It will be something like a shake-up but the main and aggressive that will be intensive and high profile training will come up in Kumasi.” Henry Asante Twum told Peace FM.
