The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced new venue for the MTN FA Cup Round of 16 fixture between Real Tamale United (RTU) and King Faisal, after the former were banned from using the Aliu Mahama sports stadium as their home venue.
The Executive Council of the GFA on Monday, March 21, banned RTU from using the aforementioned venue as their home venue following assaults on the Match Officials by their supporters in the Ghana Premier League match between club and Aduana Stars FC on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
RTU are scheduled to host King Faisal in the Round of 16 stage of the FA Cup competition on Saturday, 26th March 2022. The match was originally scheduled to come off at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium in Tamale, but following the sanctions imposed on ‘The Lions’, the game has now been moved to the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Tachiman.
In a statement signed by A. Sena Akoto-Ampaw,and addressed to RTU, Communications Member of the GFA, dated 22nd March 2022, the GFA stated as follows:
“Pursuant to a GFA Executive Council Decision to INDEFINITELY BAN Real Tamale United FC from using the Aliu Mahama Stadium, Tamale as its home venue, you are humbly informed that, your MTN FA Cup Round of 16 match between Real Tamale United FC and Kumasi King Faisal FC, is rescheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Ohene Ameyaw Park, Techiman, at 15:00Hrs.”
