Defending league champions Accra Hearts of Oak have once again failed to break their winless jinx against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park after they were held to a goalless drawn game in their premier league week 22 fixture.
Hearts of Oak barely created any chances in the both halves of the game as Berekum Chelsea took the game to them in most of the times, as they unsuccessfully tried to break their defence wall.
Chelsea started the game with high intensity and threatened the goal area of Hearts of Oak withing the first 5 minutes, when Kelvin Obeng launched a thunder striker which went across the face of the goal towards the right side of the bottom corner for an eventual goal kick. They kept the pressure and came close to unlocking the defence of the Phobians, but Nasiru Osman Ebla’s effort was cleared for a corner kick would later be wasted by the home side.
Both teams failed to find the net amidst several hard tackles which resulted in several fouls by both sides. The first ended without a goal for either side.
The Bibires returned from the break with much energy as they surged forward for the opener but once a gain the visitors back line proved impenetrable. An early corner kick for the home side just 2 minutes into the second half was well dealt with by Hearts of Oak to stay in the game.
Samuel Boadu’s men responded with a scoring intent but winger Patrick Razak was brought down at the opponents box for a free kick, but the Phobians failed to make any profit out of that as the kick went wide for a restart.
Hearts of Oak midfielder Ibrahim Salifu who has been sidelined due to injury, made his first appearance for the team since January, after coming on from the bench, but the midfielder was later stretched off as he had another knock on the right thigh. His condition is expected to be okay.
Berekum Chelsea took control of the latter stages of the game, piling so much pressure on the defence of the Phobians, but had no way to score and the match came to a 0-0 end.
