As part of their demands for serious punitive measures to be slapped on Skyy FC following their fans assaults on players and officials of Samartex FC, the Diviosn One League zone two side have demanded the sacking of Mr Wilson Arthur from office as the Chairman of the MTN FA Cup competition.
Mr Wilson Arthur, who is the club president of Skyy FC, also doubles as the Chairman of the Ghana FA Cup competition, which has mobile telecommunication company MTN as its headline sponsors.
Samartex have, in a press release issued on Monday, accused Mr Wilson Arthur as the executor of the mob attacks they suffered in the hands of the home fans during their division one league match on Sunday at the St Martin’s Park at Daboase on Sunday, and have described the actions of the well known politician, who is the CEO of Skyy Group of Companies as one of ”hate which is anti-football”.
According to them, Mr Wilson’s conduct is harmful to the game of football, and should be stripped off his position as the Chairman of the FA Cup Committee to save the images of the GFA as well as the FA CUP competition.
“We also demand the GFA to strip Mr Wilson Arthur off his position as Chairman of the FA Cup Committee, because his actions have brought the name of the Association into disrepute and will further taint the image of the Committee, the Tournament and the Association if he continues to hold that position”, Samartex demanded in the statement.
They further stressed, that Mr Wilson’s conduct, as they have since alleged, is anti-football and goes against the GFA’s ‘igniting passion’ agenda.
“His conduct is that of hate which is anti-football, and goes against the GFA’s drive of “Igniting Passion”, the statement added.
The 2021/2022 season of the MTN FA Cup is in the quarter final stage, and the draw for the quarter has been scheduled to be held live on TV on Tuesday, 5th April, 2022.
