The Ghana Premier League Match Week 27 fixtures kick off this Saturday with two fixtures with league leaders Asante Kotoko having traveled to Sogakope to face WAFA at the Red Bull Arena, while Eleven Wonders welcome Accra Great Olympics at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Tachiman.
League leaders Asante Kotoko following a disappointing back to back defeats will take on struggling West Africa football Academy (WAFA) at the Red Bull Arena in the Matchday 27 fixture on Saturday afternoon, aiming for a return to winning ways. WAFA have not been the WAFA of yesteryears during the days of Gideon Waja, Majid Ashimeru and the likes, which makes it easy for one to say that Asante Kotoko would have a very easy run over the Academy boys.
However, the Porcupine Warriors seem to have dipped in form, succumbing to a back to back defeats in the hands of RTU (2-1) and Legon Cities (3-1), which makes Saturday’s encounter against WAFA somehow a difficult task, especially considering the fact that WAFA needs the maximum three points to boost their relegation survival.
Interestingly, WAFA lost their then head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum to Asante Kotoko at the start of the current campaign, and they have as well lost key players of the last season squad in the transfer market, a partial reason for their struggle. However, the academy boys led by captain Konadu Yiadom are out to give the league leaders a run for their money.
TEAM NEWS
Asante Kotoko Sporting Club
The league leaders go into the encounter with WAFA with numerous injury concerns which has rendered the side depleted, and coach Ogum would have to improvise a lot to grind favourable results. They will be without midfield maestro Justice Blay, Skipper Abdul Ganiu and Richmond Lamptey all missing out through injury. Natural left full-backs Imoro Ibrahim and Patrick Asmah are suspended for the game while midfielder Richard Boadu also misses the game due to accumulated cards.

Coach Zaragoza Guillermo’s side have no major injury issues to deal with, and are in good shape as they hope for victory this afternoon against the Porcupine Warriors.
