Captain for the Black Satellites of Ghana, Zubairu Ibrahim has provided an update from the team’s camp and preparations for the upcoming WAFU Zone B tournament.
Zubairu Ibrahim is confident that the team can repeat last two years record to bring home the trophy and also take part of the next U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
According to the King Faisal youngster, their mindset is not about money but their focus is to achieve the ultimate.
Ghana’s U-20 team, Black Satellites left the shores of Ghana on Wednesday, May 4th for Niamey, Niger.
Heading into the tournament as defending champions, the Black Satellites have been pitted in Group B and will open their campaign with a game against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday, May 8 before taking on the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso on May 14, 2022.
They defeated Heart of Lions 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday to wrap up their final preparations.
Speaking about the team’s mindset and preparations towards the competition which is slated for Niamey from Saturday, May 7 to Friday May 20, 2022, the young forward divulged;
“We are not afraid of any team. I believe that we will beat whoever we meet and bring the trophy to Ghana.”
“We are not looking up to money for now. Our prayers is to win the trophy but not about money now. Hardworking pays but you won’t get anything when you fail to work hard. We are well prepared and we are also praying that we will bring the trophy to Ghana.”
The captain is optimistic that they will repeat the last edition’s record and as a leader he is hoping to jump into the shoes of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh to finish hard.
“I am praying to step into his shoes and very hopeful that it will happen. I am praying for that.” He told Accra-based Original FM before they departed.
