SAD: Alfred Duncan accuses GFA, C.K Akonnor, and others as the cause of his national team retirement

The Fiorentina midfielder shockingly announced his retirement from the Black Stars following an alleged humiliation and discrimination by some gaffers of the Ghana football.

It was revealed early Saturday morning that the Ghanaian international has quitted international football.

The 29-year-old midfielder does not hold back as he accuses former Black Stars coaches, Milovan Rajevac, CK Akonnor and Avram Grant for unfair treatment in relation to national team call-ups.

The Serie A player also offered some secrets of why he has decided not to participate for the national team again.

In a statement released on behalf of the midfielder, the Italian club Fiorentina stated that being consistently sidelined has led to the player’s decision to call time on his international career.

In the statement, Duncan said “When you are never considered and there is nothing you can do to change the situation, mentally it becomes more difficult. I have been humiliated, discriminated against, and left aside for years even though I have tried to keep the doors open all the time”.

Alfred Duncan further added that he did not deserve the treatment he received over the years and he believes the time is right for such a decision.

“The President of the GFA, Kwesi Appiah, Avram Grant, and CK Akonnor know perfectly well what I mean and how they treated me. For the person that I am, I don’t deserve everything they put me through and for this reason, I put an end to a story that never began”.

Duncan represented Ghana at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey playing four games during it. He made his full international debut on 14 November 2012 against Cape Verde.

He was capped in 10 games for the Black Stars as a midfielder.
