He was nicknamed Jean Tigana because his style of play which was reminiscent of former France ace who was a member of the famed ‘Carre Magique.’
His status as an icon was confirmed during his playing days with Accra Great Olympics and Real Tamale United and was a regular member of the Black Stars in the mid and late 80s and always a delight anytime he donned the national colours.
The former stylish midfielder who is believed to be in his 50’s was confirmed dead on Tuesday, June 29, 2022.
According to the football loving fans who watched the former Ghanaian international, he played better than the Maestro Abedi Pele, his former team-mate at RTU but he couldn’t hold on to his name after venturing into hard drugs.
Tigana, who grew up in Accra Newtown was in recent years seen on the streets looking dirty, and sometimes begging for money to survive.
